Normally in central Texas we get about a 2 week spring jammed between our pseudo-winter and an automatic hotter-than-hell summer. But this Spring 2015 we actually had nice temps and a wet spring that lasted three months. The land, plants and animals seemed to love it. Today was the first “hot” day. Our flooding was the only bad spot in this wonderful spring. I will be posting a bunch of images from our land taken the Spring 2015.
Let’s start with the spring’s bloom on a Prickly Pear Cactus. When I see these it always seems like the blooms are being guarded by the large and very small cactus needles. I have had the tiny needles stuck in my lips. See them in bunches on the ridge of the cactus pod? They do burn. It is a long story and not a happy ending.
